POD-21 COMMANDER'S OBSERVATION DEVICE

The POD-21 Commander’s observation device is a binocular system designed for installation in the turret of the 155 mm Self-Propelled Howitzer KRAB. It allows the user (Commander) to observe the terrain (battlefield) under both day and night conditions.

The POD-21 Commander’s observation device is a binocular system designed for installation in the turret of the 155 mm Self-Propelled Howitzer KRAB. It allows the user (Commander) to observe the terrain (battlefield) under both day and night conditions.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:

  • The passive night vision device for drivers replaces the two observation instruments (day and night) previously used in the Self- Propelled Howitzer Krab, serving both functions without requiring modifications to the mounting socket.
  • The periscope includes a builtin tilt mirror, allowing the field of view to be adjusted without changing the observer’s position.
  • The eyepiece assembly is equipped with vision correction and adjustable eye spacing.
  • A built-in optical range finding reticle provides a rough estimate of the distance to the target.
  • The reticle’s illumination intensity can be adjusted via a knob.

PURPOSE OF THE POD-21:
The primary application of the POD-21 is on self-propelled howitzers KRAB, though it can also be adapted for use on tanks, transporters, and infantry fighting vehicles.
