Thermal Imaging Sights – Battlefield Equipment

Firearm sights, including thermal imaging sights, are among the most essential elements of equipment on the modern battlefield. They enable effective engagement at extended distances, both with small arms and heavier weaponry. They are also used in man-portable anti-tank and anti-aircraft launchers, as well as for terrain observation. Contemporary battlefield requirements include low equipment weight and versatility, allowing integration with other soldier gear or use when detached from the weapon.

PCO S.A.’s range includes, among others, the Modular Day Sight, composed of the LDK-4 telescopic sight and a mounted MK-1 miniature open collimator sight. The LDK-4 sight may be adapted to the ballistics of specific weapon models by designing an appropriate reticle.

Next-generation thermal imaging sights, such as the SCT Weapon-Mounted Thermal Sight offered by PCO S.A., provide precise observation capabilities in various lighting and weather conditions. Unlike night vision sights, thermal sights offer the advantage of functioning effectively in dense smoke or fog. Incorporating the latest technical solutions, these sights deliver highly detailed imagery and enable temperature detection of observed targets.

Versatile Applications

The SCT sight project is being developed by PCO S.A. in cooperation with the National Centre for Research and Development. The firearm sights offered by PCO S.A. have been designed for mounting on various weapon types. The SCT sight is equipped with a mount ensuring secure and repeatable attachment to a rail system compliant with the STANAG 4694 standard, as well as the MIL-STD 1913 (Picatinny) standard. Additional useful features include the capability to observe from concealment behind obstacles (e.g., a building, wall, or vehicle) using an additional display or viewfinder connected via cable, as well as battlefield observation when detached from the weapon.

Thermal imaging sights manufactured by PCO S.A. are used by the Polish Armed Forces. In response to customer demand, the company has introduced a number of enhancements to improve user convenience. Field conditions demand the highest quality and resistance to changing, and often extreme, weather conditions. PCO S.A.’s firearm sights, including thermal imaging sights, undergo meticulous testing to ensure product reliability.
