On 2nd of February 2015 agreement establishing consortium led by the Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa was signed. It’s aim is to implement program of modernisation of the Polish Armed Forces in scope of medium range air defence missile systems “Wisła”.
Consortium involves PGZ S.A. and 10 companies of the Group: PIT-Radwar S.A., PCO S.A., MESKO S.A., Zakłady Mechaniczne „Tarnów” S.A., Huta Stalowa Wola S.A., Wojskowe Zakłady Elektroniczne S.A., Wojskowe Zakłady Łączności nr 1 S.A., Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia S.A., Ośrodek Badawczo – Rozwojowy Centrum Techniki Morskiej S.A. oraz JELCZ Sp. z o. o.
Estimated value of the project reaches 16 mld PLN. Medium range missiles are to be projected and delivered to the Polish Armed Forces until 2018. Contract involves purchase of 8 missile batteries. Consortium is also to provide exploitation of the “Wisla” missile systems, development and service in the entire living cycle of this equipment, estimated for 50-60 years.
“Wisła” consortium is a second consortium established to develop missile defence systems. Earlier, “Narew” consortium involving same companies, was created to deliver “Narew” short range air defence system.
